IT'S TIME FOR A VILLAGE MEETING: Awaking Moms, Reclaiming Our Girls
“It takes a village” is a proverb that leverages the cultural context and belief that it takes an entire community to raise a child. In truth, a girl has a better chance at a successful life if everyone is taking a part in her rearing. Raising a girl should be a family and friends’ affair. We should have healthy relationships among ourselves to pass down to her. She should see us having healthy conversations and interactions. In It's Time for a Village Meeting: Awakening Moms, Reclaiming Our Girls, Sherilyn Bennett charges moms to reflect on their lives and ask themselves, "What must I do to turn things around for her?" and "How can I heal myself so that she can see that healing is possible? "

“My purpose for this book was revealed to me one day, as I was really thinking about the girls that I come in contact with while on the Spiritual Sweets Girl Conference tour," says Bennett. “I would often wonder what their home lives were like. After we have poured into them and given them the tools to be victorious, I wondered what was mom teaching them at home? So, I was led to write this book for moms to help them heal themselves so that they could join us in the fight.”
